چکیده

Background Pulmonary vein stenosis (PVS) is a rare complication of atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation with a rate of significant stenosis, defined as >50%, of 1.3% in a recent multicenter study. As significant morbidity is associated with PVS, detection and surveillance with non-invasive imaging is routine. In this study, we hypothesized that prediction of PVS can be determined with early MRI to identify patients at risk for this complication.

Role of Cardiac Imaging (CT/MR) Before and After RF Catheter Ablation in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation.

Pre-procedure X-ray computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) angiography are commonly used to delineate the complex and variable relationship of the left atrium, pulmonary veins, and surrounding structures. 3D CT and MR angiography are routinely incorporated into electroanatomic mapping systems to guide ablation lesion placement in the context of patient specific anatomy. P...

Predictors of Luminal Loss in Pulmonary Veins After Radiofrequency Ablation.

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES The reported incidences of stenosis after radiofrequency ablation of pulmonary veins are highly variable. Moreover, most studies have focused on severe stenosis and have overlooked mild stenosis. Our aims were to study postablation morphological changes in the pulmonary veins and to evaluate preablation magnetic resonance imaging predictors for stenosis. METHODS Ei...

Incidence of pulmonary vein stenosis 2 years after radiofrequency catheter ablation of refractory atrial fibrillation.

AIMS Pulmonary vein ablation offers the potential to cure patients with atrial fibrillation. In this study, we investigated the incidence of pulmonary vein stenosis after radiofrequency catheter ablation of refractory atrial fibrillation by systematic long-term follow-up. METHODS AND RESULTS Forty-seven patients with refractory and highly symptomatic atrial fibrillation underwent radiofrequen...

Pulmonary vein anatomy in patients undergoing catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation: lessons learned by use of magnetic resonance imaging.

BACKGROUND This study sought to define the technique and results of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of pulmonary vein (PV) anatomy before and after catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF). METHODS AND RESULTS Twenty-eight patients with AF underwent ablation. Patients underwent gadolinium-enhanced MRI before and 6 weeks after their procedures. A control group of 27 patients also underwe...

Pulmonary vein diameter reduction after radiofrequency catheter ablation for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation evaluated by contrast-enhanced three-dimensional magnetic resonance imaging.

BACKGROUND Radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) is a promising intervention to treat atrial fibrillation. However, pulmonary vein (PV) stenosis after RFCA has been reported. The aim of this study was to investigate the incidence and time course of pulmonary vein stenosis after RFCA within a period of 3 months. Contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) was used to visualize pulmo...
